About Daniel Lewis

Dan's passion for design and architecture began in the Summer of 1982,when he attended an architectural summer camp with the University of Miami Architecture college and discovered his calling. 

He graduated from Florida Atlantic University in 2003 and has been working in architecture ever since. 

His experience covers a broad spectrum of styles, projects, and construction types. He started his career designing high end residences with his mentor, an award winning architect in South Florida. It was with this mentor that he learned to produce structural and MEP design along with  deepening his knowledge of architectural foundations. Dan is adept at fostering understanding and communication with consulting engineers and professionals, and he has the ability to interpret the designs and systems the engineers produce. 

Dan has vast experience in restaurant, commercial, multifamily, mixed use, and even industrial and manufacturing projects. He is skilled in designing renovations and additions as well as new construction, and has intimate knowledge of concrete, masonry, steel, wood, light gauge metal framing, and insulated concrete form (ICF) construction types.

Dan has worked on historic properties in both Coral Gables and Miami Beach and has fostered a professional relationship with both municipalities. His experience with historic properties has given him opportunities to create unconventional solutions that comply with the architectural, engineering, and historic needs of both clients and agencies.

Dan is experienced in construction administration and oversight, He comprehends the means and methods builders and contractors use, and this, in turn, has influenced his design process. Dan makes designs and creates solutions that are both understandable and build-able.

Dan’s main style is modern minimalism, and among his influences are FL Wright, Zaha Hadid, Renzo Piano, and Tadao Ando. Dan believes that fundamentally, form must follow function, regardless of the style, and usability should always take precedence over appearance.

One of Dan’s great joys is mentoring aspiring architects, and he continues to seek out opportunities to help the next generation learn and grow in their own careers.
